About Me

My Story

My name is Kevin Morataya, a marketing student at James Madison University graduating in December 2026. I grew up in the Richmond area with a dad from Guatemala and a mom from Colombia and growing up between those cultures shaped how I see people and what brings them together. I have always been drawn to the energy of a packed stadium or a sold-out show and also the marketing that gets people there. At JMU, I have turned that curiosity into real skills by analyzing consumer data in RStudio and Power BI, building digital marketing plans, and studying how brands compete.

Why Marketing?

What I Bring to the Table

I chose marketing because I love communication and working in teams. I have always been a very outgoing person, and great marketing starts with connecting with people

Dependable

Marketing-Driven

People-First

When I commit to something, it gets done. Teammates and friends know that they can count on me.

I like finding the story in the numbers and turning data into decisions people can act on.

Every brand is really about people. I focus on understanding them before anything else.

What are my hobbies?

Outside of class, I am always looking for the next big event to go to. Over the last few years, I have made it to some unforgettable soccer matches and concerts, usually with family or friends right next to me. For me, it is less about the event itself and more about the people I get to share it with
